Are you ready to join the FloState Auto Diesel Repair family? We’re currently hiring for the following positions:

General Service Technician

  • Position Summary: The General Service Technician must have a mechanical aptitude and be able to perform basic automotive services including mounting and balancing tires, tire repairs, oil changes, vehicle inspections and other less technical services while delivering an excellent client experience. Responsible for maintaining clean and safe work areas in the tire and service department. The General Service Technician may be required to provide advice to and sell clients on automotive services and repairs that are recommended or required for their vehicle.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn and execute basic automotive diagnostics and repairs, including brakes, alignments, tires, suspensions, cooling, and electrical systems.
  • Stay updated with evolving automotive technology through formal training sessions.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing engine oil and filter, fuel filters, and tire maintenance.
  • Assist in technical activities and communicate repair problems to management promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop environment, adhering to safety protocols and company policies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Fluent English communication skills.
  • Desire and ability to learn, with a strong sense of personal responsibility.
  • Capability to accept and apply critical feedback.
  • Proficiency in reading and comprehending written instructions and technical information.
  • Adequate computer literacy and ability to utilize basic desktop, laptop, and tablet systems.

Education, Certifications and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must possess valid, unrestricted driver’s license
  • Minimum 1 year prior automotive preventative maintenance experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical school graduate

Work Environment:

  • Extensive standing, walking, pushing, and reaching
  • Use full range of motion for reaching, bending, and stooping
  • Repetitive movement of hands, arms, legs
  • Lifting of heavy equipment over 100 pounds is required

Diesel Mechanic

  • Position Summary: The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing routine maintenance on light and medium-duty diesel engines, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. This role demands a strong technical background, the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, and excellent attention to detail. The Diesel Mechanic will also be expected to ensure high-quality work in line with company standards and provide a positive customer experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot issues in diesel engines, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform thorough visual inspections to assess wear and damage on various vehicle components.
  • Conduct engine repairs, including replacing fuel injectors, pistons, bearings, camshafts, and other parts as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems such as wiring, alternators, batteries, and lighting systems.
  • Maintain and repair fuel systems, including injectors, fuel pumps, and fuel tanks.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace brake systems (including air brakes) and suspension components.
  • Service and repair transmission systems and drivetrain components as necessary.
  • Check and repair cooling systems, radiators, and cooling hoses to ensure efficient operation.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance, such as oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and fluid level checks.
  • Perform exhaust system repairs to ensure compliance with emissions standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of all work performed, parts replaced, and repairs conducted.
  • Keep service logs updated to ensure vehicles comply with maintenance schedules.
  • Complete at least 30 minutes of technical training daily to stay current with industry standards and best practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment for diesel engines and systems.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and fix complex problems efficiently.
  • Capable of working independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to document repairs and communicate with team members and customers.
  • Basic computer literacy for tracking maintenance and repair records.

Education, Certifications, and Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with light and medium-duty diesel engines.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

Work Environment:

  • Work hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Frequent standing, walking, pushing, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment over 100 pounds.
  • Work may involve exposure to chemicals, extreme weather conditions, and noisy environments.
  • Adherence to safety protocols is required at all times.
  • Certified Drug-Free Workplace in compliance with Florida state regulations.

Auto Mechanic/Technician

  • Position Summary: The Auto Mechanic/Technician (non-diesel) will diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance on a variety of vehicles, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. This role requires hands-on expertise, a commitment to high-quality service, and adherence to safety and company standards. Additional compensation is available for those with extensive diesel experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic tests on engines to identify malfunctions and failures.
  • Conduct comprehensive courtesy inspections for incoming customer vehicles.
  • Use computerized diagnostic tools to diagnose and identify malfunctions.
  • Interpret results from computerized diagnostic tests accurately.
  • Disassemble and reassemble vehicle and equipment parts as needed.
  • Make necessary adjustments using onboard computer systems.
  • Communicate vehicle service and repair details with Service Advisors.
  • Coordinate with Service Advisors to acquire required parts for repairs.
  • Assist Service Advisors in explaining completed repairs to customers.
  • Notify Service Advisors of additional service requests or repair time needed.
  • Independently access technical resources to complete complex repairs.
  • Document inspection findings, services performed, and repairs on repair orders.
  • Read and comprehend technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.
  • Follow detailed checklists to ensure critical parts and components are examined.
  • Complete repair orders with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Participate in ongoing safety and job-related training.
  • Monitor repair times to ensure timely completion of services.
  • Test-drive vehicles to diagnose issues and verify repairs.
  • Safely raise vehicles using hydraulic, pneumatic, or electric equipment.
  • Handle power, hydraulic, and electronic tools and equipment proficiently.

Skills & Expertise:

  • Expertise in vehicle systems, including electrical, brake, cooling, starting/charging, engine electronics, and steering.
  • Proficient in working with gas engines, transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and fuel systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of shop equipment, such as alignment systems, diagnostic tools, strut compressors, and wheel equipment.
  • Ability to inspect, diagnose, and repair various vehicle systems and components.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations for hazardous waste disposal.
  • Competence in handling chemicals related to vehicle repairs, such as fuels, lubricants, and cleaning solvents.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.
  • Adhere to company policies for vehicle care and workplace safety.
  • Immediately report accidents or safety concerns to a manager or team lead.
  • Ensure all work meets company quality and safety standards.

  • Proficient with diagnostic equipment, repair tools, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Moderate computer literacy to track maintenance and access repair data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer and team interactions.

Education, Certifications, and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of automotive repair experience.
  • ASE certification preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with the ability to operate manual transmissions.

Work Environment:

  • Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 50 pounds or more and move equipment up to 125 pounds for short distances.
  • Exposure to chemicals, noise, and varying weather conditions. Adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
